Die by the Sword threatens to introduce a revolutionary new play mechanic. Its technology is such that you are granted complete control over the hero's sword arm. Using a mouse or numeric keypad, you can order Enric to swipe his sword from point to point in any direction, and his momentum will determine how much damage he inflicts. At first glance you might guess that this system allows for a near-infinite variety of attacks, just like the box says. On closer inspection, though, you realize that there is in fact a proper way to do things. More often than not, you'll be swinging right to left and stepping into the swing in order to add more bite. This effective attack looks basic enough when performed onscreenbut demands you quickly push as many as four buttons in sequence on the keypad. Going for fancier attacks just doesn't pay off, though once in a while you might get lucky. So in the end, Die by the Sword's intriguing control method just makes it a pain to accomplish what a competent swordsman like Enric should be able to do with little effort. While a simplified arcade mode exists, allowing you to perform most types of moves at the touch of a button, it's disappointing to use knowing that a less restrictive, if more convoluted, control scheme is available.

To become death in Venetica is a calling, fulfilled by a man of flesh and blood - equipped with special supernatural skills in order to be able to carry out the duties of the office.
A new death is selected regularly by "Corpus", a secret council. This time however Corpus really makes a wrong decision: The "new" death, Victor, turns out to be a crazed necromancer who manages to turn himself into an overpowering undead with seedy tricks and dark rituals and thus attains almost unlimited power in addition to immortality.
As it is strictly forbidden for the chosen death to devote himself to necromancy, the committee revokes Victor's nomination immediately and declares a new death in his stead without delay.
The power-hungry Victor however does not want to relinquish his position again. He continues to practice the dark arts in order to gather numerous dark and dangerous creatures and tainted souls from the underworld around him. He thus succeeds in eliminating the newly designated death and takes over his power for his own purposes. The effects on the world's balance are calamitous and - should Victor be able to keep himself in power - its dark
consequences are irreversible.
Only a person who has the same mighty powers as Victor can prevent his prevailing and vent him his deserved punishment. Scarlett, the daughter of the real death does not know anything about her ancestry and the hidden talents which slumber within her. She is immersed suddenly in this story due to the brutal attack on her home village and the tragic loss of Benedict, the love of her life. It is a story which she now begins to write herself, a story during the course of which she unleashes her capabilities, a story in which she tries to save Benedict from the world of the dead and a story in which she must protect the world of the living from the dark threat posed by Victor and his henchmen.

Grim Fandango is an adventure game, in which the player controls Manuel "Manny" Calavera ('calavera' being Spanish for 'skull') as he follows Mercedes "Meche" Colomar in the Underworld. The game uses the GrimE engine, rendering backgrounds in 2D, while the main objects and characters are represented in 3D. The player controls Manny's movements and actions with a keyboard, a joystick or a gamepad. Manny must collect objects that can be used with either other collectible objects, parts of the scenery or with other people in the Land of the Dead in order to solve puzzles and progress in the game. Unlike the earlier 2D LucasArts games, the player is informed of objects or persons of interest not by text floating on the screen when the player passes a cursor over them, but instead by the fact that Manny will turn his head towards that object or person as he walks by.

Manny can engage with other characters through conversation trees to gain hints of what needs to be done to solve the puzzles or to progress the plot. Like most other LucasArts adventure games, the player cannot ever get in a "dead-end" situation that would prevent progress forward due to the death of the character or other limitation.

Description:
A Diablo clone that brings something new to the table. Clans look and setup is a direct steal from Diablo but that is all superficial because Clans is more like an adventure than a hack-and-slash. There are many inventory based puzzles. For an example, near the beginning you encounter a mage who was banished into a pool of water by the Demon (main bad guy of the game). Using the last of his magic, the wizard spirits you away to his cottage so you can destroy his spellbook and, in turn, release him. After you destroy the enemies wandering around, you find his spellbook. But you cannot destroy it directly, so you pick it up and explore the rest of his house. A stick found elsewhere becomes a torch when you touch it to one of his experiments and the torch ingnites his fireplace. Now that you have a good fire you place the book in and you've lifted the curse and rescued the mage. Another thing that makes Clans stand apart is the use of prerendered "rooms" where you can only see the action in that room and none other.

You may remember Data Becker's previous game, America. It was a 2D real-time strategy game styled after the Age of Empires series, and it was, not surprisingly, set in America. Data Becker's newest game, Highland Warriors, takes place in a different era on a different continent. The game does a good job of portraying the units and landscapes that you'd expect to see in a game that takes place in medieval Scotland, but unfortunately, Highland Warriors' historical accuracy doesn't compensate for the deficiencies in its gameplay and graphics.

FlatOut is a driving game where crashing your car can be more fun than racing it. You drive muscle cars around dirt tracks, battle them on destruction derby arenas, and take part in Ragdoll Olympics. That last one may need some explanation. When you crash in FlatOut, your driver (the Ragdoll) is flung through the windscreen, very much like in Rekkaturvat. This feature is used in the Ragdoll sports where the task is to propel the hapless driver as far, as high, or as accurately as possible. On the demolition arena the goal is to wreck other cars before yours is. Simple as that.

The bulk of the game is racing though and it can be performed in typical quick race and time trial modes in addition to the proverbial career mode. There are also two different handling modes for the cars. Normal mode gives arcade type handling, suitable for gamepads. Professional mode seems to be designed for steering wheel owners and provides very challenging simulator-type handling. Not surprisingly since Bugbear's previous racing title Rally Trophy was considered to be very challenging, even demanding, simulation.

Bugbear's experience with simulation dynamics shows in FlatOut. Almost everything on the track can be run into and it behaves as it should in real life. Or at least as in a car-chase movie. Stuff that cars scatter around are there on the next lap too and cars are gradually dismantled when hit to other cars or solid objects around the track.

Multiplayer modes are of course great party hits. Depending on platform, FlatOut has hotseat, split screen, LAN, and/or online multiplay modes.

There are 3 levels of proficiency: Rookie, Beginner (learning without mirrors and looking around), and Normal (actually preparing for the examination). You can choose a vehicle among some cars and motor cycles.

Explore four square kilometers of alpine wilderness on the slopes of Amethyst Mountain in Yellowstone National Park, running across open meadows, through dense fir forests, and along sheer cliffs. The story of Dark Salvation revolves around the main character Talia who is a 24 year old woman that has been chosen by the Spirit Crystal of the Underworld as its new host. Her parents were into the occult and believed that Talias younger unborn sister Tayana was the key innocent sacrifice they needed to resurrect the Lucafix demon. Her mother could no longer have children on her own so a surrogate mother was used to bring Tayana into this world. Near birth they immediately started performing the sacrifice to assure a smooth transition of Lucafix from the underworld. Lucafix was the old ruler of the Underworld until he was banished for eternity inside the Staff of Togin.
